spectral balancing

Spectral balancing makes seismic wavelets more consistent over the offset range within gathers. Spectral balancing performs time-frequency decomposition of the input traces into frequency sub-bands. The sub-bands of the individual traces are then matched to a reference trace, thus balancing spectra across a gather.
